Jennifer Hoff
By Marcia Cipriani
In the competitive world of broadcast news, it’s practically unheard of to land an on-air news job in a Rochester-sized market fresh out of college. But that’s exactly what happened to Jennifer Hoff. Before the ink on her University of Minnesota diploma was dry, the Lino Lakes native was already in the weekend anchor chair at Fox 47 and reporting the news for KTTC-TV. Now for the balancing act: Is she an ambitious career woman striving to succeed ... or an old fashioned girl waiting to be swept off her feet? Stay tuned. The news is next.
Bio Box: Jennifer Hoff
Age: 23.
Occupation: KTTC-TV reporter/Fox 47 weekend anchor.
The Secret Of Her Success: “I’m not about the hard news,” Jennifer says. “I love going out and letting ordinary people tell their extraordinary stories.” She finds it easy to relate to people, one-on-one. “When I interview you, you can forget about the camera. It’s just you and me having a conversation.”
Hangouts: McMurphy’s, Kathy’s Pub and Gilligan’s are Jennifer’s top spots for having a beer and relaxing with friends.
On Dating: Having ended a serious relationship when she moved to Rochester, Jennifer is new to the dating scene. “I’m not looking for a long-term relationship or a ring on my finger. There’s nothing wrong with being single.”
Dream Date: A romantic picnic in autumn, followed by a hot air balloon ride to see the fall colors. “Take me somewhere fun or exciting, where we can laugh,” Jennifer says. “And I would love, love, love for someone to take me salsa dancing!”
How Jennifer’s Friends Would Describe Her: Caring. Good listener. Knows how to have fun. Goofy.
What She Likes About Rochester: For Jennifer, the Rochester area offers the best of both worlds – urban and rural. “I love that there’s still a city feel to it,” she says. “I love walking downtown at lunch hour and seeing all the people. I also like knowing that ten minutes out of town, you’re in farm country.”
Favorite Diversions: Bowling, taking walks,
reading, running, spending time with family and friends.
On The Rochester Dating Scene: “I would like to go on dates,” Jennifer says. “But you struggle with where to meet guys. Do I really want to meet someone at the bar? Or am I going to be that lucky girl who meets someone in a coffee shop and gets swept off her feet like in the movies?”
