Tami Greenslade
By Megan Malugani
Tami Greenslade is the classic Southeastern Minnesota ‘boomerang,’ a person who returns to their roots after several years away. Tami grew up in Chatfield, then spent 12 years in St. Cloud and the Twin Cities for college and jobs. But like many Southeastern Minnesotans, the lure of home was strong. Tami moved back to a farm near Stewartville three years ago, and has not regretted her decision. “I had to leave for 12 years before I could appreciate the simpleness of Rochester,” says the tall, blue-eyed blonde.
Bio Box: Tami Greenslade
Age: 37.
Occupation: Real estate agent for Property Brokers of Minnesota; trainer at Curves in Stewartville.
Family: Tami is the oldest of seven sisters, including a twin sister who is five minutes younger. Many family members, including her parents and grandparents, live nearby.
Twin Tales: Tami and her twin have started writing a book called “101 Dumb Twin Questions and Our Not-So-Dumb
Responses.” According to Tami, a common question is ‘Do you feel each others’ pain?’ “I always say, ‘well, punch her and I’ll let you know.’”
Words Her Friends Use To Describe Her: Outgoing. Quick-witted. A little sassy. Dependable. Reliable. A great
“sobercab.”
Hobbies: Home improvement projects (Tami loves home improvement stores), entertaining (because “it forces me to clean my house”), volleyball (a sport which Tami has both played and coached).
Summer Fun: Last summer, Tami created a contest for herself. “I went to as many small-town festivals as I could and picked a winner.” She went to more than half-dozen fairs, and deemed Stewartville’s fair the best.
What She Loves About Rochester: “I can walk into any restaurant, home improvement store, or Target and see someone I know. I didn’t like that when I was younger but now I find it comforting.”
On Rochester’s Dating Scene: A serious relationship ended soon after Tami moved to Rochester. “I was warned that it is
challenging to meet people here, but I’m still hopeful…Despite the rumor, being single isn’t really that bad.”
Best Date Ever: Driving around in a convertible and enjoying the fall colors near Lanesboro. “It was so simple and thoughtful,” Tami says.
Winning First Dates: Great first dates involve “doing
something different,” Tami says. Tami would rather go to a Honkers game, play mini-golf, or ride go-carts (all available in Rochester) than “sit at a bar or restaurant and ask questions back and forth like a job interview. It should be upbeat and fun.”
Words To Live By: Attitude is everything. Nothing comes from nothing. Things happen for a reason, so just believe.
